When I try to initialize it in OSX, I receive the following error: "POSIX reports: The operation couldn't be completed. Input/output error." When I try to initialize it in Windows, I receive the error: "The operation could not be performed because of an I/O device error." |

Negative - Mine arrived in pieces with the circuit board sliding around inside the metal case with a bunch of little screws. I had to screw it down myslef. Not a big deal, but there is a chance in shipping that it could get badly scratched. The case was packed well in bubble wrap though. - After inserting the SSD I had to force it down pretty hard to get it to the srew holes. The SSD is actually almost arched. I was afraid I might snap it. - The USB is a mini USB so an included cable must be used. I would prefer something like a thumb drive. It is just another cable to loose. The cable is a mini USB to two standard USB, although only one is required to function. Positive + The case is a strong heavy duty metal, so it will be sturdy. + The drive seems to be fast, although I have not run and speed tests on it yet. + Simple assembly, and plug and play. Windows 7 installed without issue, no drivers needed. + Good use for an old drive for you may have sitting around. As I use it more and run a few speed tests, I will update my review. Would I recommend it? Absolutely! For $20 you can't go wrong. ---------- Post added at 11:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:18 PM ---------- Quote:

Windows XP boots correctly when the drive is in the Mini, just not in the external enclosure. Not sure if I am doing something incorrect to get it to boot from USB though. |

SSD went in with no problem though. So far, well worth it. Triple Boot Guide - 10v RAM Upgrade Videos - mechdrew's OSX guides |

I've found that tightening each screw just enough to get them both started and then completely tightening them works quite well. As for booting from the external enclosure, Holmes4 is correct. Windows does not like booting from an external at all. You'd have more luck with a linux install on the external. Hope this helps out a bit! |
