| Junior Member Posts: 16 Join Date: Aug 2009 | I get the exact same thing, my 10v hangs at grey apple screen when it reboots This is what I did to get the problem: - after fresh install of SL 10.6.0 with NBM v.8.2, then I ran the update to to 10.6.1. - rebooted manually - boots up to the point it hangs at grey apple screen, and i have to maybe/sometimes hard reboot the system twice to get it to load into Snow Leopard Any one have a fix of us 10.6.1 boot up freeze at grey apple screen? |

| Junior Member Posts: 1 Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: Ramstein Germany | I've managed to install up to 10.6.1 on a Mini 10v by connecting the HD to a Mac Mini and installing the OS and all updates. After that, I ran NetbookBootMaker on the HD and shutdown, installed it back into the Mini 10 and booted up. Everything seems fine but no audio. I tried running NetBookInstaller after booting into Safe mode, but it Kernel panics all the time, but not always at the same place. In general my 10v with 10.6.1 seems pretty unstable and frequently panics. Does anyone have some suggestions where I might look for the problem? In the system logs and console messages it seems there are a lot of FIXME: IOUnserialize errors. But those seem common with MacBooks and MacBookPros as well after reading the Apple Support Forums. |

| Junior Member Posts: 17 Join Date: Sep 2009 | I've been reading countless threads over the last few days/evenings and have just one question. I am almost positive that I know the answer to this question, but it's impossible to install OSX 10.6 to a Mini w/out having a Mac involved somewhere, correct? I have a 10.6 Retail disc, but sadly no Mac to create the image and patch with the NBI .8.2 application. I do have access to a USB DVD drive to make this install possible. TIA! |

As far as what you can do with the DVD drive, you can burn the patched install image onto a blank DVD and boot into it, but this process still requires a mac (and I'm not even sure it would work in practice). | |
