I have two questions before I install. I am curently at 10.5.7 and it runs flawless.

1st, I am running Bios A04 on my mini9, Should I update it to A05?
2nd, Is it better to do a full install or do an upgrade ?

Comments are greatly appreciated, Thanks

They should work. I haven't able to test it yet (mini 10v arrives tomorrow).

I would upgrade to A05, but it really doesn't matter much

I did an upgrade, works fine if you boot off of the patched dvd. If you care about sound though, I'd wait until 0.8.3 when I should have sound support for the Mini 9 + Snow Leopard.

I'm also working on making a CD to correspond to this release so that those of you who only have a dvd drive can install.

meklort,

has the issue where usb audio devices not being recognized been resolved?

I was forced to move back down to DellEFI 1.2a5 for simplicity sake...

10.5.8 btw...

USB Audio will *not* work on the Dell Mini 9 with 10.5.8. Once I get audio working for the mini 9 in 10.6, the bug will (probably) be resolved.

USB Audio will work on any other configuration (non mini 9, 10.6, or pre 10.5.8 installs).

Out of curiosity, is it the same version problem holding it back?

The usb audio works fine with dellefi and 10.5.8... Only short coming is that i have to manually swap the smbios...

Not a big deal really, just trying to keep current.

The problem is due to the way NetbookInstaller creates the /Extra/Extension.mkext. In NetbookInstaller, *all* extensions are included there (for various reasons). This means that when you plug in the usb drive, it finds out that an older version of IOAudioFamily is in memory than it can use, and it refuses to load.

With DellEFI, IoAudioFamily is not included in the mkext, so it the USB kext doesn't have a problem loading.

The main issue is that we have to patch IOAudioFamily to get audio to work on the Mini 9. We cannot patch the audio driver (at least not the way I want to) because it's been binary patched by a script that messes with some of the symbols / structure etc (I don't know exactly what it's doing, so right now I'm guessing)). If the source to VerbHelper were available, I'd use that instead, but at the moment, it isn't.
Before 0.8.3 is out, I'll either write a new kext that injects the verbs to get audio to work, or I'll use whatever works for 10.6 and use that on 10.5 (if I can).
