Question 09-11-2009, 12:12 PM

This one is for meklort...
I was just wondering what the current state of the sound issue on the NBM SL install was...I'm a little hesitant to try out the voodoohda fix as I imagine that a simple fix like that would be integrated into the NBM/NBI suite by now. I know in a much earlier post you said that it was kind of buggy, but at this point renewed interest in this thread and even its own "**OFFICIAL**" thread makes me think the issue might be close to or completely fixed. Of course there's the variable of the new *.1 update as well, so can't really say.
So just to make sure I'm clear about what I'm asking: would it be worth it to jump the gun and try the voodoohda fix, or just wait for it in NBI? I figure I'll base that decision off your response.

You should not specifically address forum members since most questions can be answered by others as well

Welcome to MyDellMini forums... when you ask a question you should included relevant information so we can help answer. If I knew the model of your Mini I could have already answered you by now

Are you using a Mini 10v or Mini 9

The Mini 9 audio is not ready... and meklort has been working on other things that have higher priority. I am sure that everyone will know when the Mini 9 audio is fixed. Just be patient!

I know exactly how you feel. Sound is very important to me too and I took the plunge last night. It was a pretty simple process but the mic still doesn't work. There are a lot of people really looking forward to the next version of the NBI.

Good thing I made a backup with carbon copy cloner. Hopefully I can restore on Sunday.

Do you think doing the full upgrade to 10.6 with NetbookBootMaker is worth attempting even? Or any idea why mine gets stuck at the blue screen now?
I should mention that I can boot with -s to get to a console. Sounds like the problem may be the video driver?

very happy with this release

running 10.6 SL on my mini 9

i can sleep with my 16gb stec but only with bluetooth disabled (same as in 10.5.8)

still no sound but thats not critical for this machine, muted most of the time anyway

good work, much thanks, can't wait for the next release

--formatted the 16gb usb stick with the 10.6 image

at this point i can stick in the usb and my 10.5.8 runs the installer [and gives 'cant install on this volume error' as expected]

--ran the lastest netbookbootmaker [posted here] on the 16gb stick
--made sure bios has legacy usb turned on
--when i reboot and try to boot off the 16gb stick, it just hangs at a flashing ascii prompt

i have another usb stick with syslinux boot on it, booted off that, changed drive to the 16gb and then it gives me sector read errors.

but the 16gb is fine when being open and read within OSX.
all this leads me to think that my 16gb is not being recognized as bootable.

help.

[running bios A03 if that matters.]
I had the same problem and it confused the s**t out of me. I had used transmac to get my leopard install image on the flash drive and it worked like a charm. for whatever the reason, transmac does not work for the snow leopard image. you have to actually restore the image from a mac onto the flash drive. what u can do is copy the actual image onto the flash drive, transfer it to a mac (or dell mini if it's still running leopard), copy the image anywhere on the mac HD, and then restore the image using disk utility. of course, format as osx journal extended, and i believe it should be set as a GUID partition table. after doing that, run NBM and you should be good to go.
