Default Service Battery? - 09-07-2009, 05:32 AM

I just did a clean install of 10.6, and everything is so much more responsive. I used to get hangs launching mail or safari, but now they just pop onto the screen.

However, I'm getting a service battery warning in the power menu bar item, and I don't know what to make of it. I've also noticed that the time it says I have left at 100% has dropped by about half an hour since 10.5.7. It used to say 4 hours, but now says 3.5.

So, does my battery really need service? I kind of doubt it.

Nope, just a bug in the battery kext. If you looked in system profile on 10.5, it would have said the battery condition was bad too, it just didn't tell you normally.

I'll look into fixing it on tuesday.

how are you booting up?
do you have USB Legacy support enabled?
are you selecting USB device to boot from?

Thank you for that information

i followed the tutorial but After replacing the old file with the new one and starting the netbookinstaller to get a bootable stick the mini does try to install by Network. I saw this Problem when i tried to install a corrupt/damaged version of Arch Linux on my dell mini 9.

Any ideas how to solve this issue?

Thank you for your help so far!

hey,
usb legacy is enabled.
i have actually tried disabling all others just in case.
i prepared the usb as follows. made the dvd into a dmg file. erased and reformat as osx journaled extended. restored the dmg file. ran nbm from the link on the first page. plugged into USB on left (also tried right side). no luck.
Thanks for your help!

what boot order are your settings in?
regardless, when you turn on your mini and see the dell logo hit 0 (zero).
then select USB Device to boot from.
you should be booting up. at least you should get into the apple logo. if it freezes there we can also see what the problems is by doing -v

thanks for the response - it turns out i did not set up the partition scheme correctly when i transferred the image of hte dvd over to my usb drive. hope this helps if anyone else runs into the same problem. now i got to figure out why EasyBCD won't boot into either snow leopard or win7. gong to repair windows using install DVD (on USB) and re-install EasyBCD - unless anyone has any other ideas...
