Just a note, the new NBI seems to have gotten rid of those pesky error messages on boot up I talked about on the earlier post. Then again, I've seen those go away and come back before.

I believe the fix is using a custom kext that I didn’t want to find and install. I just figure merkot will find a fix. I just rechecked my install after deleting the sleepimage file from /private/var/vm and now my install is down to 4.6 GB which is more inline with what you report. I also want to recant what I said before about reboot working. It worked once and then when I did a permissions repair in disk utility and tried it, the screen just went black and didn’t reboot.

I've downgraded bios to A04 then back to A05 with same result. I noticed the little guy was very warm after being on for many hours. OSX 10.5.8 was very sluggish at times. I just returned home and ran the latest NBM from page one and VOILA!. Finally got it to boot into the installer. YEAH! Will see how the install goes. Thanks for all the hard work all! |

Apple deactivated the 64bit by default as the normal user doesn't have any advantages in speed or function (except HUGE amounts of RAM, which can't be addressed by the hardware). On a real Mac, you can force the 64 bit mode by pressing 4-6 at startup - But it changes nothing... |

I have a 100% system with BT and USB legacy off on a 10v with A05. Once the desktop icons are fixed its done. By the way if you are doing all this fresh why not partition the drive so you can have 10.5 in one drive before try 10.6 in the other. Chameleon will let you boot between 2 osx systems. I used a an imac to do all the below. I used disk utility to make the 8gb stick I have guid and mac os journaled. I used Carbon copy cloner(instead of restore) to copy the image from the DVD or your image to your stick(It is an exceptional app). I used the latest netbook maker to bless the USB stick. I stuck it in and started up the mini on the USB stick and loaded a fresh system (took forever) and it was perfect. I do think all the software up on this page is working, it must be in the process or your stick is broke. Meklort you are a badass. I sent you money and anyone reading this needs to do the same. |

| Member Posts: 50 Join Date: Mar 2009 | I also got a kernel panic after the apple appeared when trying to boot into the installer, due to AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement. I used the latest netbookBootMaker from the first page, just an hour ago, and it didn't work. I then looked through the thread, and Carlos had mentioned that it was a permissions problem. I followed the instructions to go to the /Extra/ folder, change the permissions of GeneralExtensions to Read/Write for all, and used mkextmaker to make an mkext with all those kexts. Then, I dropped the mkext into the /Extra folder, and I can boot now. So I don't think the latest version totally fixed this problem. | Member Posts: 69 Join Date: Mar 2009 Location: PA, USA | Following a post from Meklort, I started to play around kext. IOAudioFamily was in SLE and I moved to Extra/mini9ext. someone reported that IOAudioFamily is missing. it can be found in S/L/BackupExtensions. VoodooHDA.Kext is attached, install it into Extra/mini9ext. Move AppleHDA.Kext from SLE into S/L/BackupExtensions. Run Update Extra and Disk permission. Reboot and cross your fingers. I had a problem rebooting the mini, I do not know if related but my os 10.6 in on external USB HD, the SSD has 10.5.8. During reboot, the mini stopped at the Apple logo without spinning wheel. I had to power cycle but once I logged in I had sound. There are 2 entries in System Preference for sound input but none of them works. Also headset jack works but not the mike jack. There is another VoodooHDA By Thireus but, it did not worked for me. May be I miss some other kext ?!?!?!? The problem that I am having is that my mini will not disable this feature. I disable, exit saving changes, boot up into SL and sleep still does not work. I then reboot back into BIOS and USB Legacy support is still on. Why won't it disable? What can I do to fix it? Thinking Differently... |
