Look in the OS X guides for dual boot setups. XP requires MBR partitioning and Win 7 and Vista are easier to do with MBR although they can use GUD. Its just removing a simple script file the OS X installer runs to determine the type of partitioning. If I remembered what the file was I wouldn't tell you to search but I don't remember.

Talking I may have to wait this out-- - 09-04-2009, 03:24 AM

Thanks for all the hard work to everybody.

I tried repairing permissions. Finally got it to run installer but I guess I have to patch the OSInstall package to install on an MBR partition. Don't know how to do that so I'll wait it out.

Everything has worked so far (since around March) I'm happy with my 10.5.8 install. It works well.

Will keep watching.........

Nope, wont work. It'll crash before the screen pops up and even if you could, I'd install the wrong bootloader.

I've just fixed the NetbookInstaller crash bug, so I'll look into sleep / restart real quick and let everyone know when I update the download (30 - 60 minutes).

In Disk Utilities, select the SL partition and hit the repair permissions button towards the bottom. I don't know exactly why things get hosed up, but they seem to do and by repairing them the OS sets permissions back to were the OS needs them in terms of read/write permissions. Maybe some of the Mac Technophiles can provide a more detailed explanation but most of my experience is on a PC.

When I did it, it repaired what seemed to be about 100 or so file permissions and a lot of them were kext files (basically drivers) so things that weren't working started.

Good luck.

You rock! Not sure I can stand another 30 to 60 minutes of the blue carpet of Boise State, but either way, thanks for all your work.

When you update NBI, you just rerun it and patch your installed OS....right?

Cheers for the feed back. Just for the record I eventually managed to get it installed (phew!) by following this guide How to Build a Hackintosh with Snow Leopard, Start to Finish - Feature - Lifehacker
