I haven't got my Mini 10v yet but it should be any day now, so I wanna do a quick run-through making sure I understood everything correctly and attempting to simplify your instructions:

1. Obtained the .dmg of Snow Leopard 10A432
2. Plugged in my 8GB+ USB Thumb Drive
3. Launched Disk Utility and under the Erase tab of my USB drive, erased it with the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) filesystem
4. Under the Restore tab, browsed for the .dmg file obtained earlier and restored it to the newly created Mac partition of the USB drive
5. Downloaded PCEFI v9 from here and installed it to the USB drive
6. Downloaded 10vextrasnow.zip from here
7. Browsed the USB drive and inside the Extra folder, created a new folder called extensions
8. Extracted all the files from 10vextrasnow/Mini9Ext to the Extra/extensions folder on the USB drive
9. Copied Extensions.mkext from 10vextrasnow to the Extra folder on the USB drive
10. Went to the terminal and typed these two commands to reveal all hidden files/folders
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
killall finder

11. Deleted com.apple.boot.plist from /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration on the USB drive then copied the new one from here

Then should Snow Leopard be fully bootable and installable? After that you then install the drivers/fixes?

Update: Obtained my Dell earlier. Kept attempting to install OS X but the installer would freeze about a third in. After some Googling, found a thread here saying you must downgrade if you have BIOS version 6 to 4/5 to fix it.

Exclamation Installation Problem - 09-23-2009, 03:07 AM

I just bought Mac SnowLeopard to be installed on my DellMini 10v.

Following online instructions I was able boot Snow Leopard installation from my USB and it started installing after I partitioned the WindowsXP hard drive. About 5 minutes into the installation, it stops and "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button until it turns off, then press the Power button again." appears.

I do so, first it booted dell regularly and freezes, since I partitioned the harddrive to hold Mac OS 10.6.

I restart again made use boot is set from USB. (It automatically resets to boot from harddrive)

Installation starts from beginning. I start OS installation again. 5 mins into it the "restart" screen appears. This time i make sure boot drive is set to USB right away. same problem occurs.

Did I do something wrong? I used these instructions: NetbookInstaller 1: USB Installation via Mac | Guides | OS X | mechdrew and can't seem to reach no 17. under On the Netbook section.

Does anybody have specific Mac OSX Snow leopard instructions I can use for a Dell Mini 10v? It would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS!

Look at this post:
http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/103783-post125.html

NBI 0.8.3 RC1 also includes a new Touchpad Driver for the 10v with real multitouch support.

what you do is download netbookmaker http://netbook-installer.googlecode....%20RC1.app.zip

1. on a separate mac restore your snow leopard dvd onto a usb via disk utility
2. after thats done, run netbookmaker and select the usb you restores sl to
3. click make bootable usb
4. after it finishes take it out and plug it into your mini
5. plug in your usb to your mini
6. boot into it (i think you know how)
7. in disk utility, partition your hard disk into to partitions, one for os x and one for xp (XP HAS TO BE THE 2ND ONE)
8. partition it as a mac os x journaled
9. click options and select guid
10. format it
11. now click on the second partition (xp)
12. under the erase tab select ms dos (fat) and erase the xp partition
13. now were done with diskutil, exit it and continue on with your osx install on the first partition when it asks you
14. reboot into your xp install
15. select xp to install on your 2nd partition
16. after selecting it select format as ntfs and continue (quick)
17. continue with that install and after its done it should only boot into xp, after i come back from school i will post the rest to make it install into mac os x

Any one ever gone back to the Instal disc after OSX.6 is set up to get the dependancies?

i.e X11,Rosetta,Q/T7

i have, Rosetta made my 3 Mobile BB embedded firmware work
wish i had thought of that before taking ages finding a workaround.

X11 was a typo as SL puts it in your utilities folder under a standard installation.

"crossover" works good way to run the odd windows app.

Just a quick question--as an alternative to using Disc Utility, would a block by block copy using Carbon Copy Cloner work to install the OS to a thumb drive? I currently only have access to a PPC mac and just want to be sure that the architecture difference wouldn't mess with the install (I doubt it would, but you never know)...

Yeah, I'm curious about the CCC approach, too ... anyone tried it?
