My profile pic doesn't show up on the side, but if I go to my User CP to edit the pic, it shows up on the upload page...

The pic on the side of posts is the "Avatar" pic.

Yeah there is a profile picture, a larger picture that only displays on your profile, and an avatar, the smaller one that displays next to all of your posts.
