Default How to Delete a Post - No Edit button! - 11-02-2009, 09:27 PM

I have just posted a message in error in the 'News' section, quoted it again by mistake, and then tried to delete it!

Usually there is an 'Edit' button to allow me to do this, but this time there wasn't!

Is it just me on the wrong tablets again , or is there a slight problem here?

Apologies to all concerned for any inconvenience caused!

Edit: There is an 'Edit' button on this message, but not on the other ones!

There is a time limit after which you cannot edit a post.

Sorry, I don't quite follow you there.

Usually I am allowed to edit a post immediately after I have posted it, as I often in fact do, (and which is what I was trying to do on this particular occasion), but in this case the Edit button was just not there.

Could this possibly be a 'bug' in the Forum program itself?

The News section is somewhat special. Ordinary users cannot create new threads there, though they can reply to existing threads. My guess is that the permissions in that section don't allow editing or deleting your own posts.

Yeah, most likely it's how the permissions are setup, not a bug.

I guess you are both right... just thought I would mention it anyway!

What I meant was once you've posted, you cannot edit that post after a certain amount of time has passed (cant recall off the top of my head).

As for the news section you are right, you cannot edit posts in the news section as sometimes we promote users post to news and they could potentially edit content in the feeds/blogs.
