Question Place to Post a Note under User CP - 09-05-2009, 11:13 AM

I didn't know where to put this, but I was wondering:

Is there a place where or way you can put a note that's seen (or not seen) in your profile?

I was thinking of something sort of like a Random Notes tab next to the About Me or since I don't want to add any more work for any one, maybe it can be done via the albums/pictures section (just put what you want to say in an image format or would that be an inappropriate use of the albums/pictures section)....???

Good idea? Bad idea? (Note: I consulted the Board FAQ & looked around in the User CP 1st before asking. If I missed it somewhere, then I guess I'm just blind & will have to go back to the drawing board. xD)

Funny, I never noticed this before I became a moderator, but moderators have a User Notes section already! I'm guessing that this is more for keeping notes on sketchy forum users, but I haven't ever seen anything except "Imported User" for those of us who were registered before the forum upgrade. I guess we'll have to bring it up with Dunhamzzz.

Do you mean like an in-depth bio section or something like a facebook wall?
Each user already has a "wall" (visitor messages they're called in vbulletin) on their profile, they are viewable to the public though.

I'm thinking about install a facebook connect mod which allows users to login with their facebook account which could be cool.

Yes, I guess that would seem cool! Maybe it could be still usable by every one, even if they don't have a facebook account?

I was thinking something along the lines of a box like the one where we all use to make posts. If there were more you wanted to add about yourself (that doesn't seem to fit in the About Me page or that might make it overly cluttered), you could put it there like a little notepad (nothing huge or over-the-top).

For example, my user name has a special meaning. I could put that sort of stuff over there, but it could be separate from the Visitor Messages Wall.

Ah... I hope I'm making sense.... ~lol~ I'm just glad I was able to post something that didn't seem to get on anybody's nerves! (Being a newb is hard. xD) Thank you for your time!

Maybe you could put that in your signature? Then it will appear with all your posts.

There's already a "Biography", "Hobbies, etc." and "Job" section of the CP "Details" page - these sections are visible to anyone who visits your profile. Does that work for you? You can also upload pictures to your "album".

Another option is to post your text in a thread somewhere and link to it in your signature.
