Unhappy Stack Overflow @ Line ____ w IE8 - 09-03-2009, 02:38 PM

Heya.... I have been getting this error message in IE8 for some time now & am wondering if any one knows what it is.

The odd thing is that I only get that error message after coming into the forums. It doesn't happen with Opera 10....

Mydellmini.com itself and none of the other links give me that problem, just when I click on Forum & click through threads.... I haven't seen this error on any other web site.

I already looked around on the Net for information. Some said it might be virus/malware, but I've checked & I don't have any, so I don't know what to think.

Any ideas?

Edit: Oops! Sorry for posting in the wrong place! T.T

Okay. I found a temporary fix for the problem, which is annoying as $%#!@. It is risky, though!

It seems that maybe the add-ons in IE & browsers that use the IE engine might be conflicting somehow.

Alright. So I went in Tools-->Manage add-ons---> Show Add-ons that run without permission & disabled a lot of add-ons. Many of them were redundant, so I disabled all the previous versions & just kept the newest versions enabled.

The only problem I have now though is that it messes up my messages on here! I can't put spaces between my paragraphs or after the end of a sentence! The enter button is non-existent!

Preview also shows & as &amp when it didn't do that previously.

My current workaround for the break is closing my paragraphs with < / p> (no spaces) & putting < p > & nbsp; < / p > on a separate line manually (also no spaces).

~lol~ None of the buttons work on the pane! (not the smilies, not bold not any thing) The good news is that the message box corrects this stuff automatically. Whether it's to your liking or it was what you wanted is another story, if you didn't do it right somehow.

That html class I took a few years ago is savin' mah butt right now. ~lol~ I'm not going to take the message panel for granted again! xD Well, I'm going to go tinker with the add-ons some more, so I can see if I can get myself out of this mess.

Default Maybe Not the Add-ons - 09-05-2009, 06:11 PM

Okay. Well, my 1st thought about the add-ons was wrong as I've renabled most of the add-ons & I didn't get the message.

It appears to be javascript. When I have it enabled it, I get the stack overflow at line ____ in IE8 & the smilies & other icons above the message box work. When I disable it via my firewall, I don't get the error. Pages load without the error.

I will test it some more & report back here.... Hopefully it will be a simple edit to this message. ~fingers crossed~

Part II.

Let's roll. I'm on fire or I'm feeling really lucky today. Ar! :-)

Any way, I had some options unchecked under Microsoft VM, so I enabled them. Alright. I got just a little smarter from looking at this issue & have samples of the error (so I don't look like I'm insane).

Maybe someone can make sense of the message entries. Here they are:

P.S. I only got so aggressive trying to fix the error because it got so bad where the tabs just kept needing to be recovered, every few minutes & the tab would freeze for a moment.

Usually when I get "Object expected" errors it's because an ad-blocking or similar add-on has removed a JavaScript element that some later thing on the page wants to manipulate. You could try viewing the page source to see what is at the troublesome line on the page with the error - this may give you a clue.

I looked around in the source. I turned off the ad-blocking features of my firewall, but I still got the problem.

So I installed Firefox & use it to view the mydellmini site without any problems (for now). (I do have Java Quickstarter disabled by default, though. I'll enable it & come back to site to see if I can get the smilies to work. This is very minor, though.)

Edit: Alright. I did a reformat & IE/IE engine-based browsers work fine & I don't get the error. At this point, the only 2 programs I don't have installed is my firewall (Sunbelt) + AppGuard. I'm going to reinstall them to see what happens.
