Default Great forum, made me buy 2 minis - 07-30-2009, 02:23 PM

I'm a big Mac guy, but there is something about these Mini's that's fun. I saw a deal on Slickdeals and then stumbled upon this site. Real happy that I did, as you gave me all the reasons to move forward with the purchase. I've got a USB drive all configured and set up to install OS X today. (2) GSkill 2GB RAM chips on order from NewEgg and will throw a RunCore in when MDD gets them back in stock.

Oh and I'm getting those Apple stickers to complete the project.

Will likely do a dual boot Win 7/ OS X Snow Leopard when I do the SSD upgrade.

Awesome job with the forum. Great info and really appreciate all the videos etc.

Congrats on the purchases! Which Mini's did you order?

I'm looking forward to Snow Leopard myself, and the eventual purchase of an actual Mac. Unfortunately, the Mac requires money, and Snow Leopard is still a little ways away yet. Hopefully we can get the bugs ironed out pretty quickly though.

I picked up two refurbed 10V's. One has the 6 cell. If I recall, they both have a 120GB HD. Wasn't as concerned with the HD, since I plan on grabbing an SSD for at least one of them. I've had a MacBook Air with and without SSD. I think the SSD made such a huge difference. Some people were getting them for under $230. I paid around $270. I still think that's a phenomenal deal.

Watched your RAM install video last night and will likely watch again when I do that install next week.

I hope to have at least one up and running OS X sometime today if everything goes as planned. Will keep you updated.

Last check, Snow Leopard was on track for September. I haven't heard of any specific dates. Seems like an incremental update, but I'm sure it'll be great.

Yeah, definitely looking forward to Snow Leopard. The integration of Exchange 2007 support into the Mail client is huge for me, and will definitely help in making me move over to OS X full-time.

The RAM upgrade is pretty easy. I've gotten faster at it, but it's definitely worth taking your time though.

Good luck, and welcome again!
