G describes the older method to installing via Windows (I haven't come up with a good replacement yet so I've held off rewriting it.) The only problem is that most 8 GB drives lack 100 or 200 MB to fit the whole DVD this way, so you'll want to use 16 GB if possible. If you must use 8 GB, there is a way, which is described in Part I, but it is very tricky and more likely to fail. http://osx.mechdrew.com - News and Guides for Installing Mac OS X via NetbookInstaller - Now on Twitter |

I did this the first time I setup the USB stick to install OS X on my Mini 9. Of course, I didn't use Transmac, since I already had several Macs in my home. |

Right click on the usb disk in transmac then choose format\format from disk image and pick your image file. If its a compressed image file (most likely) then it will ask you where to save the uncompressed image to work from, so make sure you have enough space to accomodate the 7 and a half Gb of disk space it will take up on your windows PC. It will then format your usb drive as a pseudo mac install DVD. |
