I like this new way much better, only (minor) issue is how it is scattering the icons on my desktop after I change back to 100%. Any chance this will get added to the DellEFI, rather than a separate application? I think it's a must have application due to the small screen on the Dell 9. |

You choose 80% prior to opening the window you need the greater real estate for and then after opening it you choose 100% and then quit the program. If you choose 80% and leave it open it will affect any subsequent windows including when you reboot the computer. Then it will mess up your icons. Great program!!! I have added it to all Minis that have been hackintoshed. While setting scaleResolution to 80% scales the simulator window down to 80% of its original size as expected, the visual positions sliders and buttons in the app in the simulator are not in the same place where the mouse actions that affect them are located. For example, to click the app in the upper left hand corner of the simulator, I have to click in the black bar above that application icon (e.g. above the carrier signal status bar). Everything works fine in the simulator when I set scaleResolution to 100%. Thanks, phil |

I'm very interested in using Garageband here, but I can't access the buttons on the bottom of the window without glitching somehow to move the window above the menu bar. That would be fine, but I can't glitch every time. Does someone know of a way to consistently glitch a window above the menu bar or else access the bottom buttons of the Garageband window without making things look microscopic? |

I had hoped to have Adobe Illustrator on mine (most of my work is done in that program) but apparently I need a 1024 x 768 minimum resolution to run it.... Any ideas about how to get around this? |

Re: Virtually increase your Dell Mini Screen Resolution by DocC on Sat Apr 04, 2009 4:57 am Thanks to all who have made suggestions here. All I wanted to do was be able to use The World Book Encyclopedia on my Mini. Like some other apps it appears to check the screen resolution before it will open and, if it doesn't like what it sees, ie a screen size less than 1024x768, tells you it won't open on any screen size less than that and promptly quits. None of the Terminal tricks listed here—clever though they are—worked. What finally did work for me was SwitchResX 3.8.6 http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/8355/switchresx. And while it doesn't actually seem to produce that screen resolution, the World Book now at least opens. Next I have to figure out how to read the bottom of the page. (Maybe then it's time to shrink the page? Quote:
