I used the MAC OS Installation disc to partition my SSD during installation. Although Gparted should work just fine. Quad booting OS X, Vista, XP, & Ubuntu 8.10.

2. Probably DellEFI1.1 as the other one is a beta and still in testing stages. 3. I have bios A04 and didn't change any settings. If you can't boot into OSX with the boot cd, you won't be able to boot into OSX at all. I noticed you said you were able to boot into OSX before with the boot cd so I would guess it's something you did with Gparted that caused OSX to stop booting with the boot cd? In your earlier post, there's 2 things I want to note: 1. Use the Mac OS Installation DVD to create the partitions rather than Gparted. I don't see why Gparted shouldn't work, but it's worth a try. When you first boot the OSX Install DVD, you can use Disk Utility to partition your SSD. 2. The OSX installation shouldn't fail at the end. It should succeed. Are you using OSX 10.5.6? I also installed OSX first instead of XP just to see if I could get OSX to boot and even though the install failed at the very end (yes, this was a 10.5.6 install DVD), I was able to finish the installation by booting from DellMiniBoot123 and selecting the SSD partition. I then used GParted to ensure that Partition 2 was marked "boot" and then dropped back into OSX and ran DellEFI1.1. After DellEFI installed the bootloader, I was able to boot into OSX without using DellMiniBoot123 so that's farther than I got last time. Well, on to the XP install. I imagine I will have to run DellEFI again to install the bootloader once XP is installed but there's some light at the end of the tunnel now. Thanks for the tips. I did have a couple of questions: 1. How can I check to ensure that all kexts have been installed? The reason that I ask is that I can't get BlueTooth working in OSX. I've ran DellEFI and installed all the extensions along with "fix bluetooth" but the system tells me that "you don't have a Bluetooth module installed or attached to your computer". I got the Bluetooth working in XP just fine so I know the hardware is fine. That's why I'm worried that there are some kexts or other things missing from my OSX install. 2. The XP partition shows up as "Untitled" in OSX. Can I change that using GParted or Disk Utility or should I just leave it alone? Thanks. Triple Boot: Windows 7 | OSX 10.6 | XP

So I dropped into XP and turned it on so once I rebooted, OSX was able to see it and I was able to tether my phone. Triple Boot: Windows 7 | OSX 10.6 | XP |

But when i install osx it fails im using a 10.5 dvd and i update it using the combo update to 10.5.6 and then install efi 1.1 but when i go to install says it doesnt appear that your installing on a mini 9. Whats up with that. And What were the files that were written to the efi partition from windows. I wiped them out thinking that those wernt needed. And i had to reformat that to a hfs partition. I cant get xp to load at all now. Im reinstalling. but whats up with the error with the efi ? |
