Default External Mini PCI-e SSD caddie - 05-15-2009, 09:05 AM

Hi all,

I'm trying to find an external Mini PCI-e SSD holder/caddie for my two redundant SSD's! Seems a shame to leave them in a box doing nothing.

Does anyone know if such a thing exists and if so where I might get one from?

Many thanks all... Pete

I haven't seen one, but am very interested in one as well. Would love to be able to use them as USB drives.

The original SSD although only 8gb would make a really fast external drive

I know I saw a caddy for the small Toshiba 1.8 disc that comes in things like the iPod, it was a whopping $80. I'm guessing because of a small niche market.

I can't help but feel an external SSD caddy (that would plug into a USB port I assume) would be similarly expensive because the Dell SSD isn't really PCI-e. Yes the connector is the PCI-e form factor but the singnals aren't, they're Dell specific.

Has anyone found an enclosure?

I found references to the Buffalo one, but I can't find it available for sale.
