Default Silicone Skins - 03-10-2009, 08:26 PM

Has anyone else tried one of these silicone skins for the Mini 9?

I ordered one and am not impressed at all. The fit is not great and as a result, it slides around quite a bit.

Yeah Im not a fan of those silicone condoms for anything, they get dusty, and yeah sometimes they dont fit right.

I could never see the point for a computer - even one as small as the Mini 9. But I will say for the pod or iphone - something you constantly have a chance of dropping or sliding off a seat/dashboard, etc. They are great.

I haven't had one (even cheapo generic ones) that don't fit well - and I can deal with a little dust compared to a bent/cracked corner if it falls.

Would buy one for the mini-9 though.

Thank you. I have been debating what all to get for my new mini (other than a case) I was leaning toward the silicone over a skin (like the gripability factor) but I think I'll stick to ordering a skin based on these reports.

I had a silicone case for my iPod, but it was a loose generic fit made for "iPod Video & iPod Classic all sizes". One size fits none. Really sucked. This looks like a similar loose fit, based on the pics.

For grippiness, the sgpstore carbon skin is pretty nice but that only covers the top of the case. If you need grippiness on the bottom, those little grippy pads that people stick on their cellphones/PDAs would work nicely. Or if you're Canadian, you could use hockey tape.

His: Obsidian Mini-9: Karmic UNR w/ Vbox-XP, 2gb, 32gb STEC, 16gb Transcend(6), US-INTL, sgpstore carbon
Hers: Arctic Mini-9: Dell Ubuntu, 1gb, 16gb STEC, 8gb SDHC(6)
