Default Car Headrest mount - 03-02-2009, 09:34 AM

I'm looking for a way to mount a Mini9 onto the back of a headrest in my car, velco attach preferably, the goal is to allow movie playback for my children on long jounreys. We had a car mount DVD player but that died after about 18 months, the mechanisms wore out and would no longer playback reliably.

Does anyone have any solutions/ideas.

Thanks

Kate

The Mini 9 has a limited screen tilt making this unworkable.

Buy a bag for a portable dvd player. The ones that come with the straps so you can put it on the back of car seat. I took my mini 9 to target and it fit in a few of the bags very nicely. I use it when I travel with my sister. works good for watching a movie. the bag I have is a case logic. hope that helps.

Just get a long piece of double-side velcro strap, 1". No problem. One strap around the Mini and the headrest at about the level of the Mini's hinge. Then if you're paranoid, thread a strap between the upper and lower sections, run it between the hinges, and suspend the body of the Mini from the headrest or the seat. If you care has fabric seats, you could do all of this with a few feet of hook-side velcro.

Biggest problem is the Mini's hinge allows limited opening of the Mini.

BETTER solution would be to get a small 9" or 10" screen that accepts VGA input and can run off of DC from an accessory power jack. Then you keep the Mini up front and run a VGA cable back to an external screen that can be more solidly attached to a seatback.

Here are a couple ideas culled from 5sec of google use:
http://interstore.com/product/118-11048 ... l?ref=base
http://megahanson.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=658274

This looks nice, but it has inputs designed for red/white/yellow so you'll need a converter:

Price is right, but inputs are wrong:

This is what I want in my wife's minivan:

As "jermz" says....Get a portable DVD Player case.

Here's what one of the case logic bags slooks like.
With this style the screen angle isn't an issue at all.

Other companys likely make them too.

Cheers

P.S. they make good carrying cases too. Check the thread here:http://mydellmini.com/forum/dell-min...st=0&sk=t&sd=a for some photos of them.

I bought a pair of those from BESTBUY in the Portable DVD section for $25 each

It works fine but is either tough to type on or to watch but not both.

Worth it as it makes a REAL NICE CASE TOO!
