Default RAM Questions - 01-02-2011, 04:59 AM

I have a 1012. I am new here. (Hi, people) So, what will upgrading my RAM from 1 GB to 2GB do? Speciically, what will it make faster? Will I notice this boost or not? How much of a boost is it? Thx.

Nick

Welcome to the forum.

You may notice an improvement as the OS won't need to read and write the pagefile as often. The amount of improvement is not predictable, but the general opinion is that it does help some. It will especially be noticeable when you run programs that require a lot of memory.

I see. When I run something like Skype, will it be faster to load and to secure a chat with video?

If you're running Win7, it may load faster. Probably won't make a difference after that.

Wow, just under thirty bucks! I might go ahead and get this done after we get the screen replaced assuming everything still works on it.
