As the title suggests...I'm looking for an external cd drive to install a fresh copy of XP to my Mini 9. I've never bought an external cd drive, I'm not too sure what to look for and my worry is I'll buy something that only burns cds and doesn't read from them. I did look around for a while on the site but no one seems to be asking this quesiton...or I just missed it if they did. A link to some info or some personal accounts would be great! Thanks -Tim |

I just bought a IDE/SATA to USB kit and used an internal drive from my desktop. $20 versus the $50 for the slim external one. If you don't need it often and want to save the $30, it's an option, but not terribly convenient if you'll be using it reasonably often. |

I bought a Liteon last week and its spot on, usb powered on board cable storage. I've burnt about 20 DVD's and a couple of CDR's whilst browsing and its never failed.
