Default Has anyone ever done this? (a peripheral filled box on the underside of your mini?) - 12-08-2009, 10:20 PM

I am thinking about finding a thin box (the size of a thick laptop cooler pad) , venting it & putting some peripherals in it like a usb dvd drive, external HD, usb hub, fans etc etc.., and attaching it to the bottom of my mini. So that I had all that I needed in one package.

Anyone ever done this?

edit: a quick mockup I threw together.....

Mini enough. I am talking about an inch thick and the same basic dimensions of the mini. And it would double as a cooling pad. You could stick quite a few items in there with the space. Only problem is finding a ready-made enclosure the correct size.

good luck, I have a netbook chillpad I only use when I need it and as far as a dvd drive I see very little use for one in my case, I just transfer whatever I want thru my network and take it with me, then delete it when I am done, like I said in another thread, there is no such thing as too much disk space..

but, good Idea, I guess

It does indeed look similar to what the OP was describing.

I found some more details on another European site here, but couldn't see the actual dimensions quoted anywhere though.

to me all of this takes away from the portability in the 1st place, isnt that why we all bought minis to begin with, I know I did, you add all this stuff and you might as well by a small laptop...just my 0.02, also you will need a regular laptop case to carry all this crap

except... it would just increase the thickness (and weight) of a netbook instead of making it longer/wider/bigger.
