Does it matter if the current rating is higher than 1.58A? Persumably the computer will draw what it requires to charge it?

Josh
i think the current is request for the system, so the important thing to watch out is de voltage.

check this out:
http://www.laptopshop.co.uk/laptop-note ... -packs.htm

so, basicaly the amps help you to calculate the correct watts for the adapter

for the mini, 19Vx1.58A=30W, any 19V charger above 30W should be fine

I just dug through my junk pile and found an old Compaq ps with the same connector as my mini and as luck would have it, it also outputs 19v at 3.16 amps, plenty of power for my mini. It's charging my battery right now. The point of my story is before you run out and buy another adapter, look around because you might already have one.

Does anyone know exactly what size the adapter tip is i.e. 5.5 outside 1.7 on the inside?

There are plenty of chargers out there @19v, the key is to get the right connector I guess.....

The ASUS Aspire 1200 adapter seems to fit the bill!

As in the UK I ordered "New AC Adapter Power Supply for Acer Aspire 1200 (G92)" fitted with a standard 3 pin plug.

This comes with the 5.5 outer 1.7 inner.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-AC-Adapter-Po ... 240%3A1318

Arrived next day! The plug fits in tightly with no movement. It is also rated at 19V.

I went for the OEM version, but there are cheaper on ebay.
