I don't think we can answer that question for you. I assume you have already read the various threads on the touchscreen mod.

I have. Well, thanks for helping me out with the other parts. I may very well post again about the bezel (which I foresee as being problematic). So keep your eyes peeled !

did you ever install the touchscreen? it's well worth it. IMHO.

i'll post a video this weekend. hardest thing is getting all the wires snuck back into the case. you get an internal hub, too, to add things it you want (BT, mouse dongle, flash drive, etc.)

Well, I was really wondering if I should ask for it for Christmas, so no, I haven't installed it yet. I'm almost settled on asking for it :P.

MDD had it for around $80 shipped, and that is cheaper than the ebay price.

it's actually quite a nice kit. much more complete than the kits we used last year. the double stick tape is already applied to the screen and the controller, the wires are long enough to let you put the thing in different places, and the combined touchscreen/hub board is really small. last year's TS board alone was larger than this board.

also, it was well packed. I tried ordering one from deal extreme, and it was broken twice after waiting almost 6 weeks per shipment. I am only now getting a refund from them, after 6 months!

Yeah the one I'm looking at is the one MDD has.

Exclamation Technology is good , makes the screen blurry though - 01-27-2010, 03:22 PM

The kit was indeed very good.
Relatively easy installed , ordered new front bezel as old one got a little bit damaged , should have used a plastic vedge or similar to pry it open instead of a knife.
Cables , controller perfect sized and easy to route with a little patience.
Installed driver in OSX , works very fine as a kind of toy / gimmick
The problem with the screen overlay is that it makes the screen a bit blurry !
It turns the nice crisp sharp screen into a nitendo DS quality screen.
Any solution on that ?
Any replacement screens that have touch build in and still same quality as original ?

Tage

Default uses? - 01-27-2010, 09:00 PM

for those of you who've done the touch screen mod, what advantages do you find it providing? the only thing my pea of a brain can think of is drawing on it (like a tablet pc), but since the lid doesnt rotate/flip flat, that kinda defeats the purpose in my eyes. just curious what other uses you've found for it aside from making people ooh and ahh in your presence

I can't find it on MDD anymore! Is it just me being dumb, or is it gone?
