Default Could I add a DVD drive this way? - 08-05-2009, 10:07 PM

I have an old DVD drive that I do not use. Could I use a USB to IDE converter cable to connect my DVD drive to my netbook?

Here is an exemple of the type of converter I have in mind http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6812156017

The newegg kit comes with a power adapter to power the drive

You could always buy an external case for the DVD drive. Whether it is a full sized desktop drive or a laptop sized drive, you can get cases that will turn it into a USB drive. I did that for a DVD burner out of my laptop when I replaced it with a Blue ray drive.
