I set the OS X partition active and rerun DellEFi and i have a working OS X partition. I am unable to boot into my Windows partition straight from the HD or through USB, neither work ![]() You get an extra 250mb of storage, I get an extra 250mb of storage. Perfect for netbook users! |

Maybe it was something futzy with the boot sector and/or partition priority, but the DellEFI method mandates that the OS X partition is always second (remember that there's a hidden 200MB partition 1 in GUID-schemed hard drives, so the OS X partition in Disk Utility looks like it's first). I don't think the previous netbooks had this sort of restriction, since I've built or restored OS X on the MSI Wind in both MBR and GUID schemes, placing the partition anywhere I desired. So, dual-booting is much easier on the MSI Wind and maybe the NC10 (didn't have it long enough to play around with the partitioning, but I did dual-boot it and it was my first Hackintosh, so I'll assume it is just as easy). When booting to Windows XP on my Mini 9, there's as much as a 10-second delay before the XP logo appears, and that delay is already acknowledged by Microsoft, but there's no resolution for it. I will have to say that if you or a friend are on the fence on what netbook to choose for Hackintoshing, the Mini 9 is by far the most compatible (and I'm not saying that 'cause we're in a Dell Mini forum!). Every standard or optional component works without a hitch, but when it came to the NC10, the ethernet wasn't supported (a big con in my book), and there were two choices of Wi-Fi, one being fully compatible, and other being so-so. The MSI Wind is a mix and mash-up of a bunch of manufacturers, which drove a lot of people nuts - three or four versions of the webcam, two touchpads, and two wireless cards. The Mini 9 is super-consistent and that's what makes it reliable enough to recommend. Even though I may have that 10-second delay when booting to XP, the full compatibility of the Mini 9 far outweighs the downside of that issue.
