Default system restore partion - 04-27-2010, 04:20 PM

I have win7/SL combo on my mini9. I am trying to backup win7 but i keep getting an error presumably because I do not have a system restore partition. Does anyone know if i can create one and if this will effect by dual-boot status?

backing up Win 7 should have nothing to do with a restore partition...the restore partition is only used for a system restore...what you are trying to do is just backup Win 7, what are you using to back it up with..... Norton Ghost works well, there are many available to backup that partition....but no matter what you use to back it up with...it has nothing to do with whether or not you have a restore partition or not...I have backed up my Win 7 plenty of times and I dont have one...I dont even have the original drive in the machine, I swapped out the little 160gb and put in a 640gb..and restore partitions do not come pre-installed on new drives

There is also the linux dd command you can use to image, and there's also a Norton Ghost Alternative, Acronis True Image. Just keeping the options open.

I was trying to use windows 7 backup that is included. I think, and i could be wrong, that the system tries to make a system image on that partition before copying to my backup location.
