Sure, you can edit them, though they should have worked as is.

Here are the RC4 icons, which were in my opinion better than RC5 - but I'm not complaining

I found (at least in FF) if you right click and "save image" you get something with no transparency, but if you right click and "save link" you get the transparent version. Who knows why... btw I also changed save type from "preview" to "all files" not sure if that makes a difference.

I believe the generic HDD icons are just like those displayed by Apple Bootcamp, so meklort may have decided to use them to create a more "stock" appearance.
