Default Running Dual OS on a 10 or 11z - 02-17-2010, 10:58 PM

Can I ask you guys (and gals) a newbee question? Why would you want to run a dual OS on such a small platform? I'm reading on the site how to do it, run OSX and Win 7 together using flashdrives and SD cards and stuff and I just don't get it Is there a performance benifit or is it just the challange of doing it.

Not tryin to burst anyones bubble, just learning. Thanks.

I'm only curious because I'm reading allot here about loading dual OS and thinkin its kinda cool but what could the possible benefits be?? I mean wouldn't running two OS slow down the processing speed? I know my Celeron that’s coming in my new 11z can't really be all that lightning fast but running two operating systems on such a small machine........ WOW!!!

Dual/triple/etc booting has no direct effect on speed. It just uses hard drive space.

Running multiple OSs simultaneously via virtualization will consume more RAM and CPU, thus slowing things down. I think virtualization is unpopular on netbooks, since most netbook CPUs don't support the enhanced virtualization instructions and most netbooks have limited RAM.

Thanks reflex. Like I said, I'm new to the mini market and have read ALLOT of good stuff here. This site is really great for someone like me to learn just what my 11z will do and what I can do to it to improve it in the future. Some day I'd like to try a dual OS just for fun.
