I have been using Anguish/Mechdrew's install guides to do so. However, when I get to installing OSX (basically first step after preping USBs), 10v shows OSX/hard drive that has progress bar going backwards (right to left), then it goes to light grey screen with white apple and white pinwheel, then it goes to slightly darker grey screen with mouse pointer in uper left corner of screen that quickly turns into a coloured wheel (made up of different colour quasi-pie-shaped pieces that is spinning slowly. That is all it does, it does not go any further and within less than a minute my Sandisk 16 GB OSX USB goes into what apears to be a "sleep mode" (it's light fades to max brightness then to minimum brightness then to max brightness...etc. I am looking for problem so thought it might be my BIOS (since I am using A06) but since you got it working I was wondering if the problem is the Mac I used to set up my USB. I used my girlfriends Apple Macbook. The reason I am wondering is because some guides say you have to use an intel-mac, but I don't know if that is actually necessary nor if my girlfriends was actually an "intel-mac" since it was bought from Apple. Please tell me which procedures you used (which guide) to install your Mac OS on your mini 10v with A06 BIOS? Please include exactly how you prepared your OSX USB, if applicable. I would appreciate any and all information. Thank you. |

How long did you wait before concluding it was not going any further? It can take a while for the Installer GUI to start. Be patient.

There is hope yet! There are some instructions on how to flash your 'bricked' 10v and get it working from a USB floppy drive. Here is the link to the thread to revive your 10V http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/dell...ppy-drive.html

Thanks for your response. any input on my above questions about what to do about A06 (downgrade?), which mac if any has to be used for USB prep of osx, or other suggestions. Thanks in advance for any input. |

That is probably your problem (especially if you are using the DVD that came with your GF's Mac--that won't work). You need to buy the $25-30 retail OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) upgrade DVD. NetbookInstaller 0.8.4 and later will only support 10.6+. Even with earlier versions of NBI, most here are installing 10.6. |
