Default Win 7 Hibernate w/ OSX Dual Boot? - 02-09-2010, 05:32 PM

Is it possible for Windows 7 to hibernate with an OSX dual-boot? I have OSX on the first partition and Windows 7 on the second partition of my 10v. I seem to recall reading something about it, but cannot find it.

IIRC, when I was still triple booting, I had 7 hibernating just fine before I remembered to turn it off. That was a while ago though, and I don't remember my partition layout 100%, but I'm pretty sure it was OS X, then 7, then Ubuntu.

Congrats.

My Windows 7 partition will not resume from hibernation.

In order for hibernate to work properly on Windows 7, the Windows partition must be active. Unfortunately, Chameleon boot0 currently wants the OS X partition to be active (it looks for the boot1 GUI boot menu in the first active partition it finds). The developers are aware of the issue, so hopefully this will change in a future release.

For now, you can work around this changing a single byte in the MBR (or in the Chameleon boot0 file, which is what gets written to the MBR) then setting the Windows partition active. Follow my instructions here. The byte change effectively makes boot0 look for the first OS X (HFS) partition it finds for boot1.
