Nedcook, I used the Virusdoc guide and when I got to Phase 5 Install Windows 7 (remember I am trying to dual boot with WinXP Home) I get to step 9 (Win7 installer will now proceed with the installation, and will reboot several times). During the first reboot using the harddrive I get 'Unmountable_Boot_Volume' error. I googled this error and tried using the WinXP Repair Console (using chkdsk /p /r) and still get this error. Then I tried using the WinXP Repair Console to run 'fixmbr' and 'fixboot'. The symptom is the same (the Windows screen appears to be loading, then the Unmountable_Boot_Volume message appears and everything stops.
Prior to this step, the SL install seemed to be working fine. I am now stuck with the 10v attempting to boot into the WinXP partition and then failing. If the problem isn't with WinXP attempting to load on Partition #3, then perhaps it has something to do with the disc I am using (the Dell WinXP Reinstallation disc). I have read conflicting messages on this forum about use of this disc and whether it should work or not.
Also, there is probably a simple way for me to re-establish and boot into my SL partition but I haven't been able to figure that out yet either (I didn't build a SL USB drive but instead connected a DVD drive to the 10v and loaded SL directly from the disc).
Thanks for any guidance you can provide!
