| Retired Mini user Posts: 1,577 Join Date: Oct 2008 | Getting XP onto a flash drive for a bootable install is a bit of a kludge. An external USB CD-ROM is much easier. Having said that, someone posted this link for a utility that will create a bootable XP flash drive for installation. I haven't tried it myself yet. WinToFlash - Install Windows from usb - Home page Edit: Since my original post I tried using WinToFlash and it was successful, using a generic 2GB USB stick and the original Dell Windows XP w/Service Pack 3 CD-ROM. It boots to a menu that allows you to select either the text mode setup, or the 2nd phase GUI setup.) Creating the bootable stick was painless, the wizard asked for the source and destination drives and nothing else. |
