Using clonezilla to restore a activated Windows7 partition... - 12-21-2009, 09:21 PM
Need some sage advise...
I have a Mini10v and upgraded to Windows7 which self activated...
I then decide that I want to upgrade the HD, I used Clonezilla to copy the old HD contents to the new HD. I now have two HD's with Win7.
I tried to install SL on larger HD with windows7, but SL doesnt like that my partions are not GUID. I could not find anything on resolving this so I wiped the HD and had the SL install disk make the partitions and installed SL, then I added Win7. All is working as its supposed to.
I would like to clonezilla my activated copy of Win7(that is on the old HD) back to the new dual boot drive.... Is this possible if I dont copy over the MBR in clonezilla?
Another thought that I had was to have SL install partition the drive as GUID with one FAT32 partition (IE blow away the current setup) then clonezilla over the original win7 and try to install SL with the GUID partion...
I know I can call MS and just reactivate, I am just trying to see if it is possible....
