Now I only have one remaining question:

Is there a way to have it set up so that when I boot or reboot, instead of going to the timer and then automatically going into SL if I don't hit a key, it goes to an interface where I'm forced to choose? I thought the Chameleon thing was supposed to do that, from the screen shots I've seen.
By default, Chameleon does the countdown then boots OS X if no key is pressed. You can change this behavior by modifying the "/Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist" file in OS X (/Extra is hidden by default so use Finder to go directly to it). You will probably have to change its file permissions to be able to edit it. You want to add (or change, if present) the following line:
"Instant Menu"=Yes

More information about the Chameleon boot options is available here.

OK thanks much.

Big thanks to everyone who helped me finally get a dualboot XP/SL. I really appreciate it.

Hmmm.... Here is one more problem.

When I'm in Windows XP and shut the lid of the mini, the computer stays on...i.e. does not go to sleep. Is this a known issue? If so, is there any fix for it? It sleeps fine in Snow Leopard.

Is it set to sleep when the lid closes in the power management properties? I don't think mine was when I reinstalled XP.

When I go to the power options, there is only one option in the drop-down for: "When I close the lid of my portable computer."

That option is: "Do Nothing."

So it seems that the option to sleep when the lid is closed has been lost somehow.

Just been doing some Googling and found that there should be a "Hibernation" tab in the power options control panel. There isn't. So I'm wondering if in the process of getting this thing to dual book, I erased (or corrupted) the partition that XP uses to save the hibernation files. If so, I wonder if anyone know a way to fix that?

Have you installed all the drivers for XP? If I recall right, I was also missing the option for standby and hibernate prior to installing the updated drivers from dell.

I don't think XP uses a separate partition to hibernate. I only have two partitions - one for OSX and one for XP - and XP will enter hibernation without issue.

Ha! Thanks so much for that! I had installed all the drivers EXCEPT the video drivers. I installed those, rebooted, and poof! the Hibernate tab is there large as life. He would have thunk it?
