Default Win7 vs Snow Leopard - which do you spend more time in? - 11-08-2009, 07:31 PM

I have a 10v with both Snow Leopard, and Windows 7 Ultimate dual booting.

I am more familiar with Snow Leopard than Windows 7, and hence I find myself using Snow Leopard far more.

I also mainly use this 10v for word processing and browsing the internet, so I don't really have much need at all for Win 7 (dual booted just to learn how to do it and try out win7 that everyone has been raving about.

My question is, if you dual boot which Operating System do you spend MORE time in, and why?

Will be interesting to see why people dual boot and which OS they spend more time using.

i'm dual booting os x and win 7 too but i spend most of my time in snow leopard. my reasoning's a little opposite than yours. i've been a pc user for 20 years so that's pretty much all i've known. this is my first time i've used os x and so far i'm enjoying it. i have another system with win 7 on it and i only installing win 7 on my 10v in case there was something i needed to do that i wouldn't know how to in SL. to each their own, i guess. good luck!

I spend more time in Win7. It's as visually appealing as OSX (unlike XP), it's where I have Quicken installed and I have an iMac24 nearby if I need a fix.

I recently started dual booting Snow Leopard and Windows 7 and I've found myself spending most of my time in Windows. Mostly because Windows has been a little more needy than Snow Leopard. I've spent a fair amount of time getting it to run as smoothly on the Mini 9 as SL does. I'm actually pretty pleased with it now.

I've been a Mac lover/Windows hater since 1985 but getting Windows 7 to work for me has given me a new respect for it. I'm impressed with how well it can run on the Mini (with Firefox, iTunes and a little help from Boot Camp utilities). But I chose to put it on the Mini not on the MacBook or iMac.

Depends on my mood actually

If I'm doing 'netbook stuff' I usually am in OS X. I just prefer it for browsing, email and the sort.

If I'm in the "playing games" mood I'm in Win 7. Everyone knows that Macs just don't have the game offerings as PCs and that still holods.

Used to be OS X, but now it's primarily Windows 7. Part of it is because I no longer am running OS X on it due to some hardware changes I made, but the other part is that Windows is the bulk of what I work with. With Apple removing Atom support as well, I may not go back to it for a while either. Dunno at this point..

I'm exactly the opposite. I installed OSX just to see what the big deal was. Now that I have everything working, I don't find myself booting into Snow Leopard much. I usually don't shut down my Mini, I just let it sleep. Within 3 seconds of opening the lid, I'm back into Windows and doing whatever I want to do. No need to wait for it to boot or take its time waking up.

As anguish noted, if Atom support really is going away and if a solid solution isn't found I'll probably just leave my OSX installation alone at 10.6.1 and only use it on the rare occasion when I feel up to it.

I mostly use Windows 7 because I have always been a windows person. And the tools I am most accustom to are Windows based. I keep SL on there incase I have to figure out anything mac wise for one of the owners of my company since he only uses macs and we don't have any others to mess with. I'm sure if I looked around, I could find apps on osx that do about the same thing on windows, but in reality I would still using windows by default. Speaking of which, I need to learn how to edit Chameleon so that it selects my Windows partition by default. That and I would love to rename the two choices for OS in the boot menu.

Funny I actually spend about the same amount of time in each...(right now using Snow Leopard) whereas I just knew I was gonna spend more time on the Apple side (before I bought the netbook of course)
