I have a dell mini 9 with the 16g ssd and XP currently on it. I would like to be able to use OSX. The 16g drive is very limited with size and I would prefer not to mess with internal upgrades if not necessary(as mine runs great and no heat issues either). Is it even possible to install and run OSX from some form of USB Thumb drive or external SSD or would the USB slow speeds to much? Im sorry if this has been asked enough but the search for thumb drive install or external and you get tons of info on dvd drives and preparing thumb drives for the software. Any tips or options i can do to retain both OS's would be appreciated thanks -Kirt |

I had XP, Leopard, Ubuntu, and Snow Leopard on a thumb drive each. No problems, except they were slow. An external HD woulda been much betta. |

should i even bother getting a USB SSD or would the performace be lost in the usb transfer and just get a reg external hard drive. If only there was a way for Esata. Whats the deal with the memory card reader labeled " SD-MS/Pro-MMC" is it beneficial to get some kind of large card for that and install an OS on if it could improve performace. and what kind of card goes in there because its a big slot. thanks |
