Default OSX-SL / Win 7 / Ubuntu - has it been done? - 10-07-2009, 04:39 AM

I've finally gotten Snow Leopard and Windows 7 dual booting on my 10v thanks to this forum. I left a partition for Ubuntu.

Before I start, Has anyone successfully triple-booted these? Since the partition I've reserved for Ubuntu is showing in Chameleon, I'm hoping it's a simple matter of installing Ubuntu and going on with my life. How wrong am I?

I can't seem to find any threads around here to help me out. Any ideas / thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

I don't have any experience with SL, but I was reading a thread the other day where someone did get it working, but he used BCD for booting. I had tried more times than I care to admit to use Chameleon, but never had any luck. I could get dual-boot to work, but not triple.

Anguish, did you read the blog post on Meklort's blog about dual-booting with the latest NebookBootMaker. The new version includes gptsync and the long-term goal is to make it easier to dual-boot OSX and Windows (XP and 7).

I haven't, but I've read of issues with gptsync. I haven't had a chance to investigate further since I got back from my trip.

I'm planning on pulling the drive, imaging it and then trying the latest Ubuntu on my empty partition.

If I have any success I'll let everyone know.

Hijacking my own thread, I have a related question I've been thinking about. I have my OSX and Win7 installs on separate flash drives. I'd love to combine them onto one flash drive, with a menu system. Actually, I'd like to have more than just those two. I was thinking of trying to install a bootloader onto a partitioned flash drive and see what happens. Has anyone done that?

Thanks for the replies!
Jim
