Firstly I should say I'm still happy with my Streak :-)

But given that the Streak 5 has been axed, I was wondering where streak fans would go next. So this thread is intended to be for suggestions.

These leaked details about the Motorola Droid HD sounds interesting - 4.5" screen, higher res than the streak, 8mp camera, USB & HDMI ports, externally assessible SD card (processor & ram still unknown).

I think to a Motorola android tablet Optus showed me a few days ago.

It was about the same size and thickness as Ipad 2.

And only $49 per month with 4 GB of data incl.

But, I don't really want such a large one, and I still have about a year and 4 months on the Dell contract.

However, I expect something around the right size will come out from Google/Motorola by then, or from some other maker.

I don't use my Streak as a phone but it has convinced me that I want a big screen Android phone. Now that a webOS device will not be an option to replace my Pre. I'll be waiting until after the first of the year and see what 4.5 or bigger phones will be out there. It will have to be rootable and ROMable at launch and on Verizon as they are the only provider in my area.

There seems to be a trend of 4.5 & larger screens comming out soon. I think that the Streak was just ahead of it time with aii the criticism it recieved. I have been really happy with mine considering the alternatives. I would hope that Dell would continue this line.

Had a friend visit with the latest Galaxy model.

We compared phones, - but there was simply no comparison.

The Streak though not that much bigger in screen size, appeared much larger.

The resolution the Streak can achieve was much more impressive.

The Galaxy did not seem as bright, - though perhaps brightness was reduced.

The Galaxy's 8 MP photos were very good, - but so are the Steak's, - even when enlarged.

Response time was perceivably the same.

I think my friend was far more impressed with the the Streak, - and I have to say nothing impressed me about the Galaxy.

I still think the next best option will be to have a not so large phone, and a small tablet if you are mostly into non phone use of a device.

Hopefully, someone if not Dell, will bring out a small 5 or 6 inch tablet soon.

Well...while Dell may have EOL'd the Streak here in the United States, they are still releasing ROMs for unlocked units. 360 was released a few days ago.

Note that it is not available from the OTA server and must be updated manually using the stock recovery.
