Default Streak without 3G - 12-08-2010, 06:44 PM

does it make sense to buy the Streak to be used as a non 3G device?

what are the pros and cons to this approach?

what functions require a 3G connection to work that I can't do with a wi-fi and 2G only connection ?

You can use the Streak just fine as a wifi device, you just won't be able to use anything that requires a connection while you're out and about

Please do not send me support requests via PM.

I find the 3G very useful when I can't access WiFi. For instance, I was waiting to see my doctor yesterday morning and I was able to check my emails and the traffic on the various forums I belong to. I can use WiFi outside MacDonalds and a pub in the town centre, which have Cloud connections, as well as outside houses with BT FON, of course. I use BT Internet at home which gives me access to BT FON on the Streak. 3G doesn't work very well on trains, I've found.
