The easiest way would be to mount the HD onto a PC, and then mount the Streak onto the same PC (connect the usb, then click the little icon to mount it).

Then you can copy between the two using your PC.

I mean direct connect between Dell Streak with the external HDD without using a PC. Is there a way?

I doubt it very much. The streak is still a phone after all is said and done and doesn't have the same USB support a computer does

Or you could get one of these...

Iomega iConnect Wireless Data Station!

And install "Astro" file manager on your Streak with the Astro SMB plugin.

It has USB OTG (USB on the go) so should be able to connect to external HHDs and read data - plus the PDMI port is powered, so as long as the HDD doesn';t draw too much juice it should work (mem sticks should be fine).

ONLY issues is buying/making PDMI to USB female port - but the standard cable plus one of these should work: USB A Gender Changer USB gender changer - 4 PIN USB Type A - F - PC

check out for a how to to use a flash drive on the streak... but you need to be on 1.6...
Usb host mode will work on 2.2 provided you use Hyde's 1.1.1 no later.
check out Facebook - Ultimate Snes Controllers for Usb host mode in classic game playing action.
Note, a modified dell streak data cable is essential
