Default StreakDroid FroYo v1.5.0 - Release Thread - 10-07-2010, 09:10 PM

This ROM is heavily updated and still being developed at a fairly rapid pace.

The update process is now very simple to do
PLEASE NOTE: THEIR ARE NOW 2 BUILDS BEING RELEASED FOR EACH UPDATE, ONE IS A NEWBASEBAND VERSION WHICH WILL WORK WITH ANY BASEBAND AFTER 1.2 OR ANY OFFICIAL DELL FROYO BASEBAND, THE OTHER IS A NO-BASEBAND UPDATE DESIGNED FOR REBELSIM USERS AND REQUIRES THE 2.1 8105 BASEBAND

The recommended Update requires you to upgrade your device baseband, this is a simple procedure via fastboot.

rebelsim users should use only the nobaseband update file and use the 2.1 baseband or they will encounter problems

We now have a nice new website blog for streakdroid - check it out and help me populate the wiki with faqs and get in the forums sites @ Streakdroid |

-------------------
Level Of Difficulty
-------------------
8/10 - Easy level, should be simple enough for 99% of users to complete

-------------------
How-To
-------------

1. Copy the update zip to your memory card first
Steps 2-4 are only needed if you are coming from a build OLDER than 1.2
2. Power down your streak and boot into fastboot
do this by pressing power until the keypad lights come on then HOLD camera until you get to a white screen, then tap on the fastboot text in top right corner,
3. Connect your streak to pc - the text on streak should change to FASTBOOT_MODE.
you should place the amss.mbn file into the same folder as fastboot on your pc
run the following commands from command prompt on your pc
Windows:
Code:
fastboot -i 0x413c flash amss amss.mbn
Linux
Code:
fastboot flash amss amss.mbn
4. Type the following commands to reboot your streak - again alow it to boot into the main ui - you will lose network connection for the moment, this is fine, also streak WILL reboot twice before booting, again this is normal
Windows:
Code:
fastboot -i 0x413c reboot
Linux
Code:
fastboot reboot
5. Once your device has booted shut down again and boot into clockwork recovery by doing the following
boot to recovery as per step 1 then choose option 2.
6. Flash the 1.5 update zip
7. reboot

This can be rooted using universal androot but could take 2 attempts

Changing USB port works because after it's made a previous association between a USB device and port, it seems to cache it. So change the definition of the USB device and it fails to update the cached info. Plugging it into a different USB port does cause it to rebuild. This isn't a Streak specific thing by any means, more likely it's the OS, as I've had it with numerous PC devices (head-tracking devices, game controllers, etc.).

So what has changed that it is a big improvement?

Do you have the problem with 3G and wireless?

Any problems or as they are called now "ishoos"?

This still sounds too early for me to install, but the progress is fantastic.

It would be good to have another video to demonstrate not only what works, but any issues remaining, if that's possible.

Maybe we should also send said video to Dell

Everything now works!

Some parts of the market are locked due to it being an unofficial build, but I'll soon work on that.

Hmmm. Got Froyo working, that was the easy bit. Cannot get the baseband to update for love nor money! Followed the instructions religiously (cheers Dun), eight times so far, and I cannot get the drivers to install. I'm running Windows 7 and I've disabled driver signing, but it's the 64bit version, and I have a sneaky feeling that you can't actually disable signing unless you're on a 32bit environment (it was certainly the case in Vista). Any ideas?

Steve, you are quite possibly my favouritest person right now! Of course, being slightly impetuous I have already flashed the damn phone/tablet/2001 monolith to 2.2... Hence me hoping for a quick fix for the baseband patch. Can I be arsed to downgrade the phone, and then re-update it? Sigh...

---------- Post added at 12:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:20 PM ----------

Forgot to add that my initial impressions of 2.2 are really rather good. It's way faster with no lag (thank god!), and without the silly Dell mods it feels oh so nice to use!

Big grats Steve for making a really excellent port, and for doing something on your own in a matter of a few days which is taking a multi-national business bloody months!

Will be buying you several beers once I get paid

Ok, getting fed up! Regressed to 2.1, and cannot get into Clockwork Recovery at all. In ROM Manager, whenever I attempt to install ROM from SD card, or just Reboot Into Recovery, it simply resets the Streak which promptly loads 2.1 again. If I hold the volume buttons to do it manually, I get no Clockwork option whatsoever. I have ClockworkMod 2.5.0.1 installed, and everything looks peachy, it just won't bloody flash!!! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!!!!

What the hell am I doing wrong?
