Hello New to the forum, just got my Dell Streak and trying to upgrade it to Android 2.1. Anyone have info how to do it?

Welcome to the forum

Currently, O2 have pulled the 2.1 updates from their server, as the 2.1 update has a lot of bugs. We are however hosting it here at MyDellMini.

You can download the official update here (scan the QR code with a barcode scanner available in the market)

Note the current 2.1 updates only work properly with units from O2 in the UK.

Another year over already wow, Hmm wonder what they did in 2.2

my advice is to wait for 2.2. Had lots of problems with 2.1 and there seem to be serious bugs in every version out there at the moment... if you do go ahead remember to backup everything with specialist apps from the market and don't rely on the Dell PC suite for this.

Well you find me a program, update that doesn't have 1 bug?
Lol I expect all releases to have bugs
I don't really see many with 2.1?

What app do you recommend?

My recommendation is that unless you really want multi-touch support for things like emulators, or you really want some of the Android 2.1-only apps (like the Twitter app) then make the jump otherwise stick with 1.6

The last statement I read was that Dell (not O2) will be releasing the 2.1 update in October and 2.2 in December. We'll see. Dell's track record for keeping to schedule isn't good.
So for now, i'd recommend sticking with 1.6 for a few weeks.
