Nope, apparently they have no plans to fix the update but they pulled it was it was causing so many problems.

However I'm still hosting here, look at the first page in this thread for a link/qr code.

GPS fixed, the update had turned off the "Use wireless networks" to locate bit, and it then takes agesssss to locate.

Doh!

I think now that they have released their code, they are going to let the community cook up their own ones .

Shame, but means a lot more potential I guess!

The code releasing was to satisfy legal obligations, not to offload their responsibility. That being the case, if the community CAN use this code to conjure up anything beneficial, that's fine too!

Not sure if anyone else mentioned it, but I installed fring (on a whim) and while during configuration it said video calling was disabled bacause of hardware restrictions I then went into settings, enabled video calling and I got the front camera to work. So, the driver is there just no support (apart from fring, mind).

Run fring, on the main page showing your contacts press Menu then Settings and there should be a Video Calling checkbox. I can't test this just now, but that's how I remember it.

You see there in lies the problem. When Vista came out Microsoft was so interested with people adapting the OS that they forgot to tell people that their old system would properly have a problem pull the wait of he OS and everyone had problems with their out dated system and blame the OS as being a failure. When in fact Vista was a very stable OS when sold on a new system that had the horse power to run. I personaly never had a problem with it. Apple Strategies for discrediting MS did not help either. Apple has been very closed mouth on Win 7, with good reason
This here will be the issue with the Dell Streak if people keep trying to update their OS with leaked version. Hay if you enjoy being early adapters and are savvy in computing have fun....that's what computing is all about.
For me I love my Streak and 1.6 for know is serving me well. When 2.2 OS comes out and is test by early adapters I will upgrade. I have configured my screens the way I like them and I am in no rush.
