Default Using Upgrade to get a New Streak??? - 07-21-2010, 03:24 PM

I am elegible for an upgrade through AT&T and I am anxiously awaiting the release sometime this month. But I was wondering, when the 24 hour presale happens, will I be able to "use" my upgrade to get the Streak, or will I have to pay full price? I cant find this answer anywhere and it is going to determine whether I get one or not! Thanks!

Good question, seeing as how it's going to be offered in at least two places. My guess is that there will be a point in the purchase where you can select what type of AT&T customer you are.

so do you mean to say that yes, I will get the discounted price for using my upgrade? I am thinking that this is the case since the streak was free with upgrade in the UK. But I didnt know if the presale would still allow you to use an upgrade and get it at the discounted price. You would think so, since this is the case with other new phones, like the iphone 4..

Honestly I don't know. We can hope that AT&T offers the same deal that Orange did in the UK. I'm with AT&T as well, but I still have a few months left with my Samsung Impression which I wanna ditch sooner than later. Hoping I can upgrade with a decent price. Don't forget to search for Dell coupons - you can stack them.

The pre-sale is through Dell not AT&T. For the UK customers, the Streak on Dell.co.uk was sold unlocked. The ones sold by CPWH and O2 were locked to the O2 Carrier.

So are you saying that the only way you can get one through the presale is paying the full price ($499 I think it is supposed to be)? That would suck. If that is the case, when do you think I can I get one using my upgrade?

I honestly don't think anyone here's going to be able to answer that question unless they work for Dell or AT&T, and specifically know what the deals are going to be. The unit's not even priced yet - hold out for a little bit longer.

You'd be able to get one using your upgrade once AT&T has the phone up for sale.

Well my answer came not out of speculation. No, the Streaks prices have not been released yet, to anyone.
Put it this way- at this point in time the folks who want to purchase the Streak know just as much about the release date and pricing as those who have to service the phone once it's sold.

I have been tempted by the Streak as my O2 upgrade is available now - the thing holding me back is the changes being made to the O2 data plan and the fact that almost every other carrier offers better minutes and data allowance for the same price as the O2 contract... but then they don't have a Streak
