I am almost with you, I have been using Apple stuff for a while now and in particular I had a fantastic relationship with my iPhone 3g for 18 months.
If you take Mr Jobs’ fancy psychedelics words out – whether it is iphone 3g, 3gs 4, in my mind they are almost the same except for almost negligible variations.
For example, iphone 3g can’t make video calls, nor can 3gs and same with 4. (Forget face time gimmicks)
Ok, I got Dell Streak on last Saturday – 26th. I have not fallen in love with it (yet) as I did with my iphone 3g in a matter of half an hour. However, I am respecting it and learning the stuff as I go along, and you guys have helped me as well.
The biggest difference I have seen between iphone (in general) and Streak – is the UI. The stuff apple comes out with is breathtakingly beautiful. Practically it does the same job like any other phone, but the software presentation is magnificent.
The other obvious one is: App store and Android Market:
It is my opinion that most of the Apps in app store are utterly useless but its there. It may be psychological, when I go to App store and download an app I feel “secure”, “safe”, knowing that Apple tested the app and there are no hidden motive to copy my personal data.
Some how or the other – I don’t feel that same assurance every time I download an App from Android Market. For example there was this App info in Android market: it says (by the developer) please send me your credit card details/password, so I can send you the app direct as A- market is not allowing me to publish the app (something to that effect) This could be genuine or may be not – yet I feel I am taking a risk with every download from A market.
Another big for me: Dell PC suite- OMG what a useless piece of software. It is beyond my wildest imagination how on earth Dell came out with that. Compare that with iTunes.
At no time I expect Dell pc suite to go pass iTunes, but if one compare Dell suite with, Samsung, Motorola pc suits you will see the difference.
I don’t think its fair to compare sizes – cos iphone and Streak are in two different leagues. One is a “phone” with good internet facilities and other is a tablet with brilliant web facilities oh with bit of added “phone” facility.
I want to get more use to Android and my Dell that will help me to develop closer afflation with lovely Streak (I missed my 3g though) Well….. life has to move on and go on.
By the way bigrob: do you know how to copy text from an email. How do you select, copy and paste text, say from an email.
