This post is sort of a question and sort of a warning for US Customers. (ESP AT&T in the US)
The specs for the currently available UK SIM-Free Streak indicates that the unit has UMTS 2100 / 900 MHz
These 3G frequencies will not work on AT&T in the US. Yes, it's unlocked, yes, it's QuadBand GSM, and yes you can put your AT&T SIM card in it and make/receive calls.
Yes, You will get data access, BUT it will be limited to GPRS/EDGE speed on AT&T (regardless of your AT&T data plan or SIM Card.) if the phone is limited to UMTS 2100 / 900 MHz
(UMTS 2100 / 900 MHz 3G should work on T-Mobile in the US)
For AT&T it needs 850/1900/2100 MHz UMTS.
Does the UK Streak support 850/1900 MHz UMTS?
Will the US version when it is available?
What's the difference? Can this be changed (fixed) with a Radio Firmware upgrade or are there physically different radios in the US an UK version?
Thanks for a prompt reply as I would like to get my Streak as soon as possible.
