Thanks Rico!

I have only used "Explorer" to get rid of non rooted filed, and used it to get rid of the Vaulty residual problems.

Non rooted files have dates of installation, and when you strike a problem with an installation of an app on a particular date, you can delete those of the same date. But if a normal Delete worked to get rid of an application, you wouldn't need to be looking for residual files causing problems.

If something installs on your phone without you requesting it on a particular date, - once again "Explorer" will find files of the particular date, and if the files are rooted, Explorer will tell you it is a rooted file and you need their recommended paid for app.

But the free app. "Super Manager", does the same job, and you can then remove files of the date you are investigating. I used Super Manager to get rid of all rooted files of the date on which "something" installed itself. No problems!

As the phone worked without files of the date concerned, it stands to reason they are not necessary.

But I suppose the Accueweather application that was there from when Dell added it, might be different. But I can't see why the phone would "need" it to operate.

Anyhow, for the heck of it, why not install "Super Manager" to just browse what file are in the device. You don't have to delete anything if you don't feel happy about it.

I should also say that I have not tried the other 2 features of that app. - such as the memory cleaner. But other general android phone users have, and they experienced no adverse problems, jusging from the comments.

Or, just have a browse of files with the other app. "Explorer", that doesn't deal with rooted files, but lets you see both types. It can remove non rooted files.

I must check today to see if Accuweather is sending me similar messages to what you are experiencing. If not - what does that suggest .....
Perhaps it isn't Accueweather itself. Otherwise we would all be getting the same message.

Other readers, are you having troubles with Accueweather ????

I just tried my Accueweather and it is working fine.

The weather for tomorrow or Monday was "Pleasant with plenty of rain". Uh! Hope it's not Monday!

But I love the graphics on this app.

Have you used the "Menu" button to take a look at options?

I remember I discovered the options via the menu key when I wanted to change from Fahrenheit to Celsius.

Perhaps some change to something there might end your problems.

It is interesting that when you look through installed apps Accueweather isn't amongst them.

So there seems to be nothing wrong with the app. Could it be your ISP?

Are those experiencing this problem all with the same ISP?

Or did this only happen with Streaks that were updated to 2.2 from 1.6?

If so, you might need to contact Dell to ask how to rectify the problem.

My phone already had 2.2 when I bought it.

I disagree, it works perfectly well, at least in Australia. Make sure when you have it open, you press the "Menu" button on the right of your device.

You may be asked to enter your location.

Also, activate your GPS at least for a short time before you do this, so it knows where you are.

But you can soon after, turn that off to save your battery.

Mine gives me the weather for "Fairlight", which is an adjoining suburb to where I work. I figure that is where my ISP's cell must be that covers the town where I work.

Even when I am back home, it still gives the weather for Fairlight, as the GPS is turned off.

That is fine, as I don't live far from work, anyway. And in any case, even if it gives you the weather for the City generally where you live, that should be good enough.

Why should it not work well in the US, if it works here? Perhaps an ISP related problem.

But tell it what location (main City) you are in, and leave the GPS on before you do that. Then see what happens.

And, as far as we know, you can't get rid of the widget.

The Accuweather.com widget is fine. What I said not accurate is the Accuweather inside the 'home' stage.

I am curious why we can't uninstall a widget pre installed?

I thought I one occasion in Settings I had seen a mention of widgets, but could not find anything last night.

Have you tried just pressing it gently down, to see if it will delete, like deleting a movie, video or image from Gallery.

See what happens, - it might go, delete the application or just open up Accueweather.

There is actually an issue with accuweather, keep receiving the force close notification. Only way to remove the widget is rooting the phone first so you can get to the preinstalled widget.

Last night I turned on the GPS to set up "Navigate" with the android synthesized voice, and also turned on the other GPS Assist feature which uses the Cell you are using to help.

Poor old Optus took forever to download the voice feature, - but "Navigate" works really well, even when the device is in a dark room at night and just pointed through a window.

The female voice started to tell me which roads and turns to take to get to Manly ( a Sydney beach suburb). With a map of the roads where I live.

Can't really see me using it, as it certainly isn't going to be mounted on the car dashboard in the very hot sun. Maybe I will walk and carry it in my hand!

BUT, having turned on those two, Accueweather is no longer showing Fairlight's weather, but my own suburb.

Still continues to do so, with the main GPS turned off, - but the other has decided it doesn't want to be unticked.

Do those of you in the US with Accueweather problems get a lovely large widget of the sun, with clouds passing over, or rain pelting down on the left of the home screen? I love this ever changing widget with it's large temperature measurement.

If you touch it, it goes away and displays more detailed weather details.

I don't know why it works well in Australia and not the US ?????
