Default some problems about my dell streak - 09-22-2010, 08:37 PM

Hello everybody,

I bought it yesterday and have two questions in relation to the language.
Firstly, what should I do in order to input japanese(do I need to download a software? if so, how to find the software?)
Secondly, I want to install a dictionary(japanese<>english) and I dont know how to find the software.

Thank you in advance.

Google translate is pretty good, it includes japanese. (Although it's a translation programme rather than a dictionary). You can cut&paste the japanese text.

Does Dell have a site in Japan? If so I would have bought it there. Then the product would have been geared to your community.
Try searching android market for translators. I think if you want to type in Japanese that would have to do with a new font set which I have never heard of on these type of system. The OS is Rom based.

As for Japanese input, try searching the app market for a 3rd party keyboard, there's bound to be a Japanese one.

Please do not send me support requests via PM.

I can't help with the dictionary, but this seems to be the best bet so far for phones released outside of Japan for the keyboard input that I can find:

Localizing Japan - Japanese Input on Android Phones

throw Life - Android

Not perfect, for a few reasons they give, but a good place for a start.

The capability is actually there, but the software isn't provided or enabled currently.

Is Japanese input natively supported or not? - Google Mobile Help
