Default awkward to answer a phone call - 07-23-2010, 06:33 PM

Is it just me or is the software on the Streak frustrating when trying to answer an incoming call?

Phone rings, you pick it up, then the screen goes blank. You then need to hit the power button to turn the screen on, then hit the menu button to unlock it, then press the phone icon in the task bar, then hit the answer button.

By the time you've done that they've gone to voicemail...

Am I alone on this?

Is it possible to stay awake on incoming calls?

Thank the Lord for forums like this. I thought it was just me. The only way I have been able to answer a call successfully is when the Streak has been lying down flat on my desk. Otherwise i have exactly the same problem. Just a black screen and by the time you manage to get the phone screen displayed the call has been missed or gone to vmail. Help!

Same issues today, surely if the phones rings the phone should stay lit and ready to answer

Hmmm cant say ive had that problem at all, phone rings I take it out of my pocket and tap the answer button... I have learnt to pick it up by the sides when it rings though.

One thing I did do that was great was to extend amount of rings as it seemed to ring twice and go to voice mail, I read it on this forum but cant finat the moment.

It is frustrating and I think it's the proximity sensor blanking the screen out. As ^ he said, you need to learn to pick it up from the sides but Dell would do well to disable the sensor while the phone is ringing, it's a pain in the ass!

I get this as well. VERY frustrating. I am banking on the update sorting it out or will be rooting and getting a phone app that actually works. It seems that Dell just didn't spend enough on software development on this phone which makes no sense when the hardware is sooo good!
